Miss Dominion of Canada

This national pageant began in 1959.  The winners did not receive cash prizes, but made more than 350 public appearances across Canada during their reigns, receiving a commission for each one.  They also competed at international pageants - Miss Universe from 1959 to 1977, Miss International from 1960 to 1992, and Miss World from 1962 to 1979.

Miss Dominion of Canada pageants were always held in Ontario - 1959 in Preston, 1960 to 1978 in Niagara Falls, and 1979 in Hamilton.  After 1979 representatives for Miss International were selected by the franchise owners.  The Miss Dominion of Canada organization ceased operations in 1992.
